There is something special about the perfect dirty martini. First of all, you must love olives; otherwise, this is not for you at all. Secondly, you must love olives and vodka combined. If those two prerequisites are a yes, then this is a drink for you.
It has taken me a long time to get the right combination down for the perfect dirty martini. For so long, I would only order one at this nice steakhouse my husband and I would go to for date nights. Then, finally, I realized I HAD to keep trying until I made it right. You see I had tried and failed plenty of times at home trying to replicate this martini, and for some reason, I just couldn’t get it to taste as fantastic as the restaurants.
I realized that when I ordered my martini at this particular restaurant, I would always get blue cheese stuffed olives [cue mouth drool], but when making mine at home, I would use the store bought stuffed olives. Mistake number one! I found that stuffing them myself was the way to go; it was so much tastier and it made the world of a difference. Now I know blue cheese isn’t for everyone, so if that’s the case, just use regular green olives; it’ll be just as yummy.
My other mistake I realized was the vermouth. I was putting way too much in. It wasn’t until my friend Theresa, who used to be a bartender, showed me to just drizzle a little in my glass prior to pouring in the rest of the concoction. With those minor changes, BAM I have this amazing martini! Not sure if it’s a good or bad thing yet lol!
Stuffing the blue cheese olives is extremely easy. Buy a jar of big pimento stuffed olives, remove the pimento, take blue cheese, and push it into the cavity. I love using gorgonzola cheese. I’m not sure why, but in my opinion, it tastes amazing! Yes you can buy the store bought stuffed olives, but take my word for it, homemade is so much better.
Try this one out if you like olives and vodka. You will be in for a delicious, salty drink, that I’m sure you will love. Share your thoughts in the comments and don’t forget to pin, post and share! Enjoy 🙂
