Garlic Parmesan Breadsticks
Serves: 12
  • Breadsticks:
  • 1½ cups warm water
  • 1 package active dry yeast or 1 tablespoon
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour,plus more for dusting
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • Topping:
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melter,
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoons dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoons dried basil
  • ¼ cup shredded parmesan cheese
  1. Dough:
  2. Place the warm water in a stand mixer; sprinkle with the yeast, and sugar and let sit until foamy, about 10 minutes.
  3. Gradually add the flour, fine salt and mix with the hook attachment until a slightly sticky dough forms, 5-6 minutes on medium speed.
  4. Flour a surface and knead the dough until smooth and soft, this takes about 3 minutes. Roll dough into a large rectangle, about 1-inch thick, and cut into 12 strips with a knife.Shape each piece strip into a 7 inch bread stick, twist the dough if you prefer that style. arrange 2 inches apart on parchment lined baking sheet. Cover with a cloth, let it rise in a warm area to double in size, about 45 minutes.
  5. I weigh out my dough balls actually, they are usually 2.5 to 2.8 oz each. I find this method easier at making them the same size.
  6. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  7. Topping:
  8. In a small bowl mix the melted butter, garlic powder and salt.
  9. In another small bowl mix together the oregano, and basil.
  10. Brush the butter mixture over the risen breadsticks, then sprinkle on top the oregano and basil mixture.
  11. Bake for 16-18 minutes. Once they are golden brown sprinkle with the parmesan cheese and bake for another 30 seconds to a minute.
