Banana Cake

February 19, 2016 By Keturah

Banana Cake- Moist delicious and easy to whip together! A definite crowd pleaser!

Banana cake is something I grew up eating all the time.  As with many of my recipes that I grew up eating, I got this recipe from my mom.  The funny thing is at the top of the recipe card my mom wrote “Mike’s Banana Cake.”  Now Mike is my dad and I’m not sure why she named the cake after him, but I think it’s sweet.  So this ones for you dad!  I may have to surprise him with a big piece at his office.

The recipe calls for margarine and shortening, and if that makes you cringe, let me say it really does make this cake so incredibly moist and delicious! And when you do whip this together, I really think this could be a cake everyone in your house enjoys.  My boys, including my husband, love this wonderful confection.

When I took a bite, it instantly took me back to when I was young.  This cake was a go to for my mom; I’m pretty sure she made it because my dad loved it so much.  Mom was the type who literally made dinner every night for her family along with a homemade dessert.  So needless to say, this recipe has been tested and enjoyed time and time again.  Prepare this for your loved ones and share you thoughts.  Enjoy!
